She has served on the DSC Board several times over the years – Membership, Happy Hour, Activities, President (2006/07) – as well as serving as our Race Director and Club Archivist. She is still enjoying her job with American which affords her lots of free time for DSC activities & trips! She has a grown son, Tommy, and daughter-in-law, Shawna, who live in the area so Marlene gets to spend lots of time with her 8-year-old granddaughter, Addison, who’s become quite the ski bunny! Marlene encourages everyone to get involved with the Club – volunteer to help at the Check In table at Happy Hours & parties! That’s a great way to get to know other members and she also encourages you to consider serving on the DSC Board in the future!
Lynn Erickson 2019-20 President Elect
Lynn Erickson
My life began in Minneapolis as a Teutonic – Viking with the nickname “Cyclone”. Apparently I whirled around quite a bit doing the hula hoop, cheerleading, pom-pom girl, ice-skating and playing softball. There are two contests I’ve never lost: hula hoop and “Sultan of the Swat” softball hitting! I loved school and was in student council, class officer, journalism and wrote a column called “Fashion Forecast” which led me to Teen Board. At the University of Minnesota I studied Liberal Arts Family Studies and Interior Design and was a princess in the winter celebration and also in the Miss Dayton Aquatennial contest. When it was time to get a real job my friends told me I should be a stewardess! I had no idea what that was and I had never been on an airplane! I got three offers and pursued my favorite airline, Braniff International, where I had the time of my life flying all over the world for seven years! I flew PAC MAC bringing our troops out of Bien Hoa Vietnam. Remember the book “Coffee Tea or Me”? That is how my married life began! I had two wonderful sons who each have a beautiful wife and three kids! While I was being a mom I continued my education getting a BA in Psychology from UTD. Then an MA in Counseling Psychology from TWU. I was a therapist specializing in the treatment of abuse and published a game called “Survivors Therapy Game”. I love tennis and traveling! I have loved being a trip leader with DSC and previously served on the Board and been Volunteer of the year hosting many DSC events. I look forward to serving on the Board these next years.
